Cross-Field Conversations on Non-Violence: Everyone is invited to participate in a 5-part series on non-violence with participants from around the United States. Each of the 5 session will be about 2-hours long and open to any interested persons. People may join all or part of the series, but our hope is participants will be willing to engage in all 5 sessions. The dates are:
-
March 31, 7-9pm CST (Introduction to topic)
-
April 7, 7-9pm CST (Exploration of history and tradition)
-
April 18, 7 -9pm CST (Exploration of scripture)
-
April 25, 7-9pm CST (Principled and pragmatic non-violence)
-
May 5, 7-9pm CST (Summary – role of non-violence in the church’s ministry and mission)
The purpose of these inter-field sessions is to engage in conversation with people having a wide spectrum of perspectives and backgrounds. We hope these experiences will be helpful in journeying toward the 2023 World Conference when we address WCR 1319 from 2019 that calls for a statement on non-violence be developed.
